How we work

The design process

Every Trifle* project runs through the same eight phases — so you always know what is happening now, and what comes next.

  1. Every project starts with a conversation, not a quote.
    Phase 1

    Project Inquiry

Submit your project inquiry form. We follow up to schedule a complimentary 20-minute discovery call to hear about your space, your timeline and how you want to live in it.

  2. We measure the room and read the light before we design anything.
    Phase 2

    Consultation + ProposalIn person

We meet in your home for a paid consultation to understand the project in full. You then receive a written proposal with a clear design-service budget and agreement.

  3. Materials on the table early — the direction is set here, not later.
    Phase 3

    Pre-Design Discovery

We work closely with you to gather and organise inspiration, and begin schematic space planning — the direction of the whole project is set here.

  4. Plans, elevations and every finish specified before a single order goes out.
    Phase 4

    Design Development

Schematics become functional plans with every material selected. The phase closes with CAD drawings, material and textile samples, and often 3-D photorealistic renderings.

  5. On site through construction, so what was drawn is what gets built.
    Phase 5

    Project AdministrationConstruction only

Throughout construction we attend job-site meetings to review design decisions, placement and material installations, so what was drawn is what gets built.

  6. Received, inspected and stored by us — damage gets caught in our warehouse, not your hallway.
    Phase 6

    Procurement + Management

We handle vendor logistics, warehouse receiving and inspection, delivery tracking and coordination with your trade partners — damage and delays get caught before they reach you.

  7. One day, one crew, one finished room.
    Phase 7

    Installation Day

We coordinate furniture placement, rug installation, lighting, artwork and the final styling. You come home to a finished room, not a project.

  8. The part that matters: how it feels a year later.
    Phase 8

    Post-Installation Support

Our commitment doesn't end with installation. We stay available for any questions or adjustments once you've lived in the space a while.
