Spaces that nurture, connect & inspire

Trifle* is a full service, multidisciplinary interior design studio in London, working across workspace, retail, hospitality and residential since 2010.

The team

Four people, and the same four on your project from the first call to the day the last picture goes up.

Emma Morley

Emma Morley

Founder · Creative Director

Diane spent twelve years running construction before she ever drew a floor plan, and it shows in how her projects run: budgets that hold, trades that stay coordinated, and no surprises in week nine. She is happiest with a layout everyone else has given up on — the galley kitchen with three doorways, the living room with nowhere to put a sofa. Ask her about the Kenwood house where the answer was moving one window eighteen inches.

Emma Smith

Emma Smith

Design Manager

Marisa sets the direction of every project and is the reason none of them look alike. She trained in textiles before interiors, which is why our rooms tend to be built outward from a fabric or a single piece of stone rather than from a mood board. She is unmovable on two things: the light has to be layered, and no room leaves this studio with everything at the same height.

Lead Interior Designer

Priya turns a direction into a buildable set of drawings, and she is the one who catches the thing nobody else did — the outlet that lands behind the headboard, the door that swings into the new console, the tile that needs a two-week lead time. Kitchens and bathrooms are hers. She measures twice and specifies once.

Cameron Williams

Cameron Williams

Designer

Beth owns everything between the design being approved and the room being finished: orders, lead times, the warehouse, the delivery that was promised Tuesday and is now Thursday. Every piece is received and inspected by us before it reaches your house, which is why damage gets discovered in our warehouse rather than your hallway. Unflappable, and the person the trades actually call back.

1Team, start to finish

We work across whole-home renovation, new construction and single rooms that have never quite worked — and we design for the quiet Tuesday as much as the dinner party. Rooms that are warm, unhurried and specific to the people in them, rather than staged for a photograph nobody lives in.

That means we start with how you actually use a space, not with a style. Where the light falls at four in the afternoon. Which chair everyone fights over. Where the dog sleeps, where the post lands, which corner has been a dumping ground for six years. The design follows from those answers, which is why our projects rarely look like each other.

A room is finished when nobody in it is thinking about the room.

Our process is collaborative and deliberately unmysterious: clear deliverables, steady communication, and one team accountable from the first floor plan to installation day. You are never guessing where a project stands, and you never get a surprise invoice in week nine.

We work across London and the UK, on workspaces, showrooms, restaurants and homes — from single rooms to whole-building fit-outs.

How we think about it

The architecture is the client

We work with the bones you have. Moving a wall is the last resort, not the opening move — most rooms fail on light, scale and layout long before they fail on style, and those are cheaper to fix.

Budget is a design constraint, not a secret

You get real numbers early, including the ones we would rather not send. A budget discussed in week one is a design brief; the same budget discovered in week nine is an argument.

Buy fewer, better things

We would rather specify eight pieces you keep for twenty years than forty that fill the room by Friday. Rooms get better as they age when the bones are right.

Nothing is precious

If it can't take a wet glass, a dog, or a four-year-old, it doesn't go in the plan. Beautiful and unusable is just expensive.

The sample library — every material specified is one we have held.
